Everyone out there needs to take steps to be safe. All to often someone thinks nothing bad will happen to them. But then it does. And they are left sitting there wishing they would have taken the steps to protect themselves.

The right to defend oneself and ones’ property is a God given right and one of the most basic rights of a free society along with our ability to own firearms . Protecting your life is an instilled natural instinct .

Today we look to the police and the laws to help protect us. But with the amount of crime and shrinking police departments resources are spread thinner each day. Individuals must assume more responsibility for their own family and personal protection .

How can you work less than lethal self defense products fit into your self defense strategy?

Self defense products are an integral part of the strategy. All items like defense pepper spray and stun guns have their place for sure. You also need to know how to use them and practice using them so if you are faced with a self defense situation you use them naturally .

Another key ingredient is learning some basic self defense techniques. This can help you build your confidence. A great way to do that is by getting self defense tapes that allow you to learn without leaving the safety of your house .

I firmly believe that self defense is something that would be beneficial to teach to young school children . By giving them a jump start the self defense techniques will become second nature . Just like riding a bike!

One you get the fundamentals down packed find a buddy and practice what you learned on them . Maybe you could teach them something If and when the time comes to defend yourself it is very important to have the techniques be second nature so you don’t freeze up .

Pepper Spray Is Not The Best Option For Children

Today I want to talk about an article I just read that was a little bit shocking. Some people it is an extreme case but I feel it is a perfect example of how in some cases pepper spray should only be used by adults.

This article was a little bit disturbing. It was about a school bus full of children on their way to school. There was one kid in particular that was notorious bully. He was known for picking on younger kids, normally around the ages of 10. And this student was in the 11th grand mind you.

Somehow this student had acquired a bottle of pepper spray. Well, on October 25th during the bus ride to school he decided to bully a nine year old girl. He demanded she give him her lunch money. When she refused to do it and pulled out a bottle of pepper spray and proceeded to spray a continuous stream into this little girls face to the point where she could not breath.

Many other children on the bus were also unable to breath do it being a small enclosed space.

Under normal circumstances only a 2-3 second burst of pepper spray is used and that is more than enough. This student pressed the button and never let go. Many other students tried to stop him but he sprayed them and fought them off.

The bus driver immediately stopped the bus and managed to break up the situation. The pepper spray badly effected several students on the bus including the little girl. Three of them had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital due to severe injuries caused by the pepper spray.

This is a very gloomy story and I was very shocked when I first read it. It is becoming more and more popular for parents to get younger children pepper spray. I’m not saying the parents of this teenage boy had bought it for him, that was not mentioned in the article.

I personally feel in some cases pepper spray can be of a great benefit to children, but there are several things that need to be weighted. You need to know you kids. You want to make sure they are responsible enough to only use it if it is absolutely necessary.

You also wants to make sure they are old enough to take that responsibility. I would not recommend giving pepper spray to anyone under the age of 16.

For those of you that have younger children that you want to keep safe the perfect solution a personal alarm. They can keep it on their keyring and if anything goes wrong they just set it off and it will alert someone that there is an issue.

So the moral is judge your children and really consider it before you give the young ones pepper spray.

Pepper Spray Is The Shiznat

I’m a bit of a pepper spray freak.  When it comes to protecting yourself pepper spray is the best stuff out there.

Most of it is very powerful and will take down most assailants in a short 1 second burst. There is a reason why pepper spray is the most popular defense for college students as well as women. It comes in so many different shapes and size that anyone can find the perfect type for them.

On top of being powerful it is much more powerful than most other self defense products it has no long lasting effects. In comparison, if you use a stun gun on somebody that has a heart problem you could kill them. If you are defending yourself that you probably wouldn’t get into much trouble but it means you would have to spend a whole bunch of time in court which no one wants to do.

If you need to get yourself some protecting I highly recommend getting pepper spray. Having a bottle of pepper spray with you is like having a huge body guard go with you everywhere you go. Now that’s what I call protection.

With the economy going down the drain the crime rate is going to go up. That is a proven fact that when the money goes away crime goes up. People like us are out there everyday working all day long and now we have to worry about someone trying to steal our hard earned money But think about this. Some crazy crack head tries to much you but then he meets the business end of you pepper spray. Instead of him messing your day up, you messed his up. That’s the way to go. Don’t be a victim, keep yourself safe with pepper spray. There is no better self defense product out there to keep you and you family safe.

Self Defense Products And Pepper Spray Are Dangerous

In today’s society you don’t have to look far to see the effects of increasing crime rates. Year after year the number of murders, kidnapping, sexual crimes seems to rise. The fact is no one is safe from these kinds of crimes; they are present in every state, city, and town. As sad as it sounds these crimes are especially common against women and children.

It doesn’t matter what your situation is there is the perfect self defense product out there waiting for you.

Pepper Spray:

Pepper spray is one of the most common self defense products out there. It is also known as OC (oleoresin capsicum) spray. There are several different types of pepper spray out there including liquid, gel, or mist. On top of the different types there are different potencies. Pepper spray is measured in scoville heat units which is the percent of Oleoresin Capsicum in the pepper spray itself. This is actually the same way that hot sauce is measured. Why you ask? Because pepper spray is actually an extract of peppers, hence the term pepper spray. Some of the hottest spray out there is rated up to 18% which is very strong and effective.

Just like with most other self defense products there are many different packaging options that look like harmless common items such as: lipstick, cell phones, pagers, and key chains. This means you have the ability to catch your assailant by surprise and regain the upper hand.

Stun Guns:

Once of the most common types of self defense weapons is a stun gun or other related electroshock weapons. Most stun gun type weapons release a very high voltage shock, up to 1 million volts, of static electricity. These weapons may seem very dangerous but due to the low amperage there is no permanent damage caused to the person it is used on. The electrical shock effects the nervous system and causes rapid convulsions of the muscles that will reduce the blood sugar and temporarily demobilize the person it is used on.

One of the very appealing points for stun guns is the fact they come in many shapes and sizes. They range from 80,000 volts all the way up to 1 million volts. On top of that they are available as many common items such as, Cigarette lighters, cell phones, pens, and flashlights.

Tasers:

Another type of electroshock device is known as a taser. A taser is similar to a stun in that uses an electrical current to incapacitate the individual it is used on. The major difference between the two is how it passes that electrical current. A stun gun needs to be used by obtaining direct contact with the assailant where a taser uses two probes attached to wire and normally uses compressed gas to launch at the attacker. Tasers are a most costly solution but are much more effective and safe for the users. The most common deployment of tasers is by law enforcement officers.

Overall most self defense products will help you get the upper hand as long as they are used properly. They do not guarantee that you will be safe but they surely help. When it comes down to it you best defense is to use your head and pay attention to your surroundings and know when something is not right so you can avoid it.
